Experimentalists Meshuggah have just released another trailer for their one two punch release on September 29th. After having seen what The Ophidian Trek will have to offer, they are now teasing fans with the re-release of I.
One of the most forward thinking EP’s any band has produced, with instead of four songs, contains one epic 21 minute track moving through all sorts of technical madness in the process.
Having originally written the EP in 2003 at Fear and Loathing studios in Stockholm Sweden it has always been part of their discography but has never been easy to find. Even when the band have been asked to perform it, Tomas Haake has said that essentially it’s far too complicated for them to attempt to rehearse and would take up too much time for what it would be worth.
Being based upon Haake’s isolated drum track the band then decided to build around that, with both guitarists having to sight read their parts in order to play it! So it’s technical enough, I meaniff Meshuggah find it hard to play…
Being somewhat a rarity now fans will be given the chance all over the world to listen to one of the bands best written songs, but not only will the EP feature the 21 minute epic, but will also feature two live tracks from their Ophidian Trek tour as well as another little song, “Pitch Black” released via Scion AV that may have swept under peoples radar but, as you would expect is absolutely brilliant.
Check the trailer out below and get ready to experience “I“.
