Bloodbath Make Public The Identity Of New Vocalist

Bloodbath Nickholmes

After releasing information about their new album last week and what has seemed like a torturous wait Bloodbath have at long last broken the silence on who their singer is. After the departure of Mikael Akerfeldt who has now gone full prog with Opeth, Nick Holmes has been drafted in as the new vocalist. Previously of Paradise Lost fame the vocalist is known for his more melancholic crooning, so it will be interesting to see how he fares now that he will be solely doing more guttural vocals. Not to mention that he has a little bit to live up to with Akerfeldt‘s monstrous bellow.

Jonas Renkse states : Ever since I got into Lost Paradise back in 1990,” , “Nick Holmes has been one of my favourite growling vocalists out there. He was always audible and articulate but still deep and definitely morbid. It is a great pleasure to work with him some 25 years later after I was introduced to his thunderous roar!”

Whilst Anders ‘Blakkheim’ Nyström speaks out “Little did I expect to be working with the voice behind the death metal classic Lost Paradise, or the genre-defining Gothic and yet here we are decades later, fulfilling another death metal dream. With his sinister and ominous vocal delivery, it’s an absolute pleasure to make Old Nick the bell-ringer in Bloodbath‘s grand morbid funeral!”

So there you have it, I for one will be very intrigued to see how Bloodbath go about their new album with their new vocalist, it seems that most of the time its a rather unpredictable person that bands choose to pick. Also being slightly outside their comfort zone seeing as Holmes recorded that album a long long time ago, we shall wait and see. One thing is for sure that the metal world is definitely going to be excited for this new release.

Grand Morbid Funeral will be released November 17th via Peaceville Records.
