Frontman of metallers All That Remains Phil LaBonte just can’t seem to get anything right. He’s taken his arrogance to new plains now in attempts to match his idol Phil Anselmo, and implied that metal musicians are not musicians at all.

“So in the past six months bleeding through called it quits, god forbid called it quits, and just today shadows fall has announced that for all intents and purposes they’re calling it quits. I’m so glad ATR have transcended ‘metal’ and have become ‘musicians.’”

If you break down the last sentence of this argument, LaBonte claims that All That Remains are now above metal, like they are better than metal and they are not actually musicians. So metal musicians aren’t musicians at all and the bands he mentioned couldn’t get past metal so they quit. Yes, the sentence makes no sense at all, but as much as we’d like to blame LaBonte for being arrogant on this matter, it’s more than likely just a case of stupidity. Just a really poor choice of vocabulary and not knowing what the words he used meant.

Having said that we don’t really know where he was trying to get at by posting something like that – that All That Remains are survivors and have risen to spiritual plains because they haven’t quit yet? It’s actually extremely irritating to think that he is arrogant enough to call out the legends in Shadow’s Fall and God Forbid for not being musicians.
