Californian deathcore band Carnifex is set to release their ninth studio album, “Necromanteum,” through Nuclear Blast on October 6th.
The recording sessions for this new musical offering were conducted with producer Jason Suecof (known for his work with Trivium and All That Remains), with additional co-production from the band’s vocalist Scott Ian Lewis and drummer Shawn Cameron.
The title track of the album has already received a music video treatment, directed by Jim Louvau and Tony Aguilera (who have previously worked with Jerry Cantrell and Greg Puciato). You can watch the video below. In terms of the album’s concept, a press release provides the following summary:
“Decades ago, affluent intellectuals began constructing psychomanteums in their homes – secret rooms filled with mirrors or a single mirror, situated in complete darkness – with the intention of communicating with the deceased in other dimensions and acquiring their knowledge. This practice was often used as a healing tool to alleviate grief or regarded as a form of divination. ‘Necromanteum’ presents the concept: What if you could utilize such a chamber to converse with death itself? What hidden truths of the world could you unearth through a direct dialogue with the grim reaper? Not a monster, but an equal intellect.”
Scott Ian Lewis expressed his thoughts on the album, stating:
“‘Necromanteum’ is a truly remarkable album that we, as a band, already hold dear. Take some time to engage in conversation with the other side of existence, step into the Necromanteum…”
