German melodic death metallers Deadlock have released a video for a re-recorded version of their hit track ‘Awakened By Sirens‘. A double-edged opinion on this one…

The track originally comes off the bands breakthrough album ‘Earth.Revolt‘, released in 2005, and have re-recorded the track to fit their evolved 2014 sound. Quite honestly we believe that a hit track should never be re-recorded, especially in this case since Deadlock’s sound has almost melded into heavy 8-string pop – a lot of what made ‘Awakened by Sirens‘ great has turned to keys, synths and pitchy female vocals. Definitely not sure about this one, but it is likely to win over some new younger fans which was probably the logic behind producing this in the first place.

Track aside Deadlock have actually had a decent professional video filmed for this, finally obtaining heavier funding being one of Lifeforce Records top bands. So they got that going for them…which is nice…

The track comes off the bands upcoming record ‘The Re-Arrival‘, featuring re-recorded and old classics. The album hits shelves August 15th via Lifeforce Records.
