Katatonia Release “Shifts” Video

Everyone’s favourite harbingers of sorrow have released a video for “Shifts” taken from their new album The Fall Of Hearts.

Directed by the infamous Lasse Hoile who’s vision seems to get more and more gloomy by the day the new video is a brilliant example of Katatonia at their finest. Appearing at their only UK date this year the band will be performing their classic The Great Cold Distance in its entirety along with material from the new album afterwards.

Katatonia vocalist Jonas Renske remains as optimistic as ever with origins of the track itself :

“Once I heard Anders’ initial demo for “Shifts” I had a feeling that it needed a timeless kind of lyric. The sentimental kind of music made me think of how memories of better days can keep one alive… and it had me writing down a vague, modest thought on war, how it separates people, and ultimately brings a certain death that would only be eased by the thought of past days and a loved one.”

Happy happy. The song itself is a brilliant smidgen of just how emotionally enthralling The Fall Of Hearts is and is shot in a beautiful method that really capture the melancholy in the track.
