Already hearing the first example of music to come from Dream Theater‘s most ambitious work to date the band have released a new trailer making us all the more excited for the records official release. 

Acting similar to a feature film trailer, the one and a half minute teaser begins to illustrate the plot of The Astonishing. A small rebel  village Ravenskill decides to rise up against The Great Northern Empire with the power of artistic expression. Though it does look slightly kitch, the trailer itself must have taken a while to bring together and creates more of a foreword for the album’s release both teasing newer material but also the story itself. It’s fantastic that so much effort has been put into creating a back story for this rock opera. 

Whether you like Dream Theater or not it’s undeniable the sheer amount of effort the band have put into this new release. The small globe drone looking bots seem to be quite an integral part of the story perhaps representing a side? It also makes you wonder perhaps the band might release a feature length film to accompany the album, perhaps when they perform it might act as a musical? Speculation is abound for this new release but one thing is for sure The Astonishing is going to have a lot to live up to but who better than DT.
