Decapitated Cover Artist Talks Blood Mantra

The cover artist Lukasz Jaszak has taken a few moments to talk about Decapitated’s new offering Blood Mantra.

The artist went on to reveal the artistic and intrinsic values behind the design of the cover, and can be read below.

The cover for the new Decapitated album “Blood Mantra” was created by designer/photographer, Lukasz Jaszak of Ɓukasz Jaszak Design & Photography. Exclusively for And Justice For Art, the Polish artist (who previously designed the art for the band’s previous album, “Carnival is forever”) reveals that “there was a lot of exchanging ideas about this project. The album’s main theme was human in its worst form, the most self-destructive, possessive and lethal being on this planet with primitive instincts and sick aspirations… It would be easy and really messed up to combine all this stuff together so I decided to keep it simple and it worked. The whole cover plus additional illustrations I did for the booklet correspond directly with the lyrics of each song and all that.”

The cryptic and allegorically-charged artwork was created via a plethora of different techniques. “I used a model as a reference, then some mixed media techniques, a little photography, some digital painting,” Jaszak comments. “Basically I used whatever it took to make both me and band happy with the result… There was a lot of blood, too!”
